You must have a Merchants Mariners Card, Assistant Engineer License
Must have Water Safety Survival, and Firefighting Cert
Overall operation, maintenance, and repair of marine machinery, ensuring safe and efficient operations, and maintaining accurate records and inventory.
Minimum of 2 years’ experience as an Assistant Engineer
Have stood independent engine room watches on ocean-going vessels
Show the ability to develop and execute innovative solutions to engineering problems
Ability to handle increasing levels of responsibility
Well versed with USCG/ABS/ISM/TSMS/ISPS regulatory requirements as applicable to ocean-going tugs
Possess strong written and oral communication skills
Must be a team player & leader with a positive attitude who takes pride in their work
Has demonstrated the ability to cooperate and communicate well with coworkers, supervisors, and subordinates
