Join SAVARD Personnel Group - where your skills are valued!We are seeking an experienced and hands-on Heavy Equipment Diesel Mechanic to lead our in-house maintenance operations. This role is responsible for overseeing all maintenance and repair activities, managing shop personnel, coordinating parts and inventory, and ensuring maximum equipment uptime. This is a leadership position requiring both technical expertise and strong organizational skills. Key Responsibilities
Oversee daily shop operations and maintenance activities for all heavy equipment
Supervise, train, and manage shop mechanics and support staff
Diagnose complex mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues when needed
Plan and prioritize repairs to minimize equipment downtime and support operations
Implement and manage preventative maintenance programs
Create, review, and approve parts requisitions and ensure accurate ordering of parts and materials
Manage parts inventory levels, vendors, and purchasing processes
Track and control maintenance costs, budgets, and repair timelines
Maintain accurate maintenance records, service logs, and reporting
Coordinate with operations teams to schedule repairs and equipment availability
Ensure all equipment meets safety and compliance standards
Enforce shop safety policies and OSHA regulations
Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient shop environment

Requirements
5+ years of experience in heavy equipment or diesel mechanics
2+ years in a leadership or supervisory role (preferred)
Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, and electrical systems
Proven ability to manage a maintenance shop or team
Experience with budgeting, cost tracking, and vendor management
Valid driver’s license required
